What is Chiropractic
The nervous system is the information superhighway for the body. It is at the heart of every function the body performs. Science is finally extending its understanding of the nervous system to the outside of the body to include interactions between itself and the world. Relationships, work environments and cultural shifts are being viewed in respect to the corporate nervous system. This “superhighway” is truly super.
Health is now being viewed as more than just the presence or absence of a disease or dysfunction. Health includes the way people think, feel and relate. Family health, social health and cultural health are all possible with this understanding. At The Wellness Centre, we know that everyone deserves good health…but what does “health” actually mean?
As humans, we were designed to be healthy. Our bodies are equipped to adapt to our environment, and in doing so, we raise ourselves and others to potentials long since forgotten. This adaptation has a director; the nervous system. It stands to reason that a properly functioning nervous system is one of the keys to optimum health. Since our health is reflected in the decisions we make, the relationships we keep and the cultural trends we create, our health really does direct our view of the world.
Doctors of Chiropractic have participated in the recovery of health for many people. Through the years, they have noticed a dramatic unfolding in each individual’s expression, far beyond the so-called “limits of health”. It’s as if they begin to live again!
Allowing people to have a new lease on life has become the mission of the Professionals and staff of The Wellness Centre. Health and wellness is truly a lifestyle and begins at birth. What a great legacy to leave the world; the privilege of expressing life to its fullest potential
Chiropractic is a science, art and philosophy that concerns itself with the relationship between the nervous system and the function of the body
The foundation upon which Chiropractic is built is the realization that health is the body's normal state, and good health is perfectly natural.
Chiropractic holds that the body possesses a unique internal wisdom that continually strives to maintain it in a state of good health. It is this innate, instinctive intelligence that controls our heart rate, blood pressure, adrenaline production, and other vital bodily functions. It is also the guiding force that allows our body to adapt naturally to the influences of internal and external environment.
To a great extent, the ability of the body to maintain good health is dependent on its ability to adapt to the environment. Ensuring this capability is one of nature's most remarkable communication networks: the nervous system, comprised of the brain, the spine, and the nerves.
The brain sends mental impulses to each of the more than 100 trillion cells in the body, instructing them how to function properly. At the same time, each part of the body is sending the brain information based on its internal and external environment at that moment.
As the brain receives and processes this information, it sends out revised commands so that the body will adequately respond to its surroundings and maintain the optimum level of good health.
These mental impulses are transmitted to and from the brain via nerves passing through the spine. Nerve System interference can cause messages transmitted over the spine to become garbled, modified, or diminished. As a result, the body's response is inadequate to adapt properly.
As the natural ability to adapt and respond to its environment is reduced, the body's ability to respond to challenges to its health is likewise reduced and poor health results.
Chiropractic seeks to identify and analyse Nerve interference. Whenever possible, the doctor of chiropractic re-opens the body's natural communication network , with nerve function improved, bodily processes are permitted to become more normal, and the body is better able to return to its natural, striving toward good health.
